Leeds duo golf club hits by John Ritchie

FORMER Leeds United players John Stiles and Ian Snodin were guest speakers at a sportsman’s dinner hosted by North Cliff Golf Club. Stiles, son of 1966 World Cup winner Nobby, spent five years with the Elland Road club, while Snodin’s playing career included a two-year spell there as well as a season as player-coach with Scarborough.

Stiles now makes a living as a comedian on the after-dinner circuit and the funnyman had the 90-plus diners rolling with laughter throughout his 45-minute turn. As well as touring the after-dinner circuit, Snodin works as a radio presenter and T V football pundit.

North Cliff president Brian Hinchliff said: “The night was a tremendous success. “ The standard of the acts was as high as we have ever had and to top it all we raised £250 for charity, which will go to the Mayor’s fund for Tom Davis-Lawlor who was one of our heroes injured in Afghanistan. “We are planning to have some more functions later in the year but we we will have to work hard to beat this one.”
